I started to work with backup solution in 1995 when I work at IBM. The product named ADSM = ADSTAR Storage Manager. ADSM is the first backup from IBM storage department for open system (non-mainframe) on that timeframe. Later after IBM taked over TIVOLI, ASDM was changed to TSM = Tivoli Storage Manager. Even the interface of TSM is not quite easy but it is statble and working well. TSM had slogan " Set it , forget it". I found a big customer who still use TSM 6.22 from 2002 till now. Yes!!! it is 18 years already.
In 2020, the technology is moving so fast but the bottom line for the every system that we need the good backup plan and workable recovery process. ....No only the SW.
